TECHNOLOGY IN ACTION

Mazak Canada will showcase several machine tool innovations suitable for shops of all sizes and manufacturing requirements, including Mazak’s VC-500 AM HYBRID Multi-Tasking Machine. With full 5-axis capability and additive technology, the VC-500 AM helps shops reduce time to market and cut R&D costs.

Other highlights will include the full 5-axis machining of Mazak’s VC-500A/5X Vertical Machining Center, the DONE IN ONE® capability of the QUICK TURN 250MSY Multi-Tasking Machine and the self-contained automation of the VARIAXIS i-600 Vertical Machining Center with MULTI-PALLET POOL (MPP). All these machines feature Mazak’s MAZATROL Smooth CNC technology – the industry’s fastest, most progressive machine tool controls.

Applications engineers will also be available to meet with show attendees and demonstrate many ways to reduce cycle times, maintain part consistency and boost productivity in fast-paced environments.

PANEL DISCUSSION

Apprenticeships with a Modern Twist - Addressing the Skills Gap

Wednesday, September 27 from 2-3 pm

Conference Center

Ray Buxton, general manager of Mazak Corporation Canada, will participate in a panel discussion on the role of modern apprenticeships in developing a new generation of workers to close the skills gap. The panel will explore how companies and associations are engaging their local municipalities and government to build a pipeline and leverage apprenticeships, external funding and other external partners to address their workforce requirements. A mechanical engineer, Ray began his career 44 years ago with an apprenticeship in aerospace prototyping and R& D in the UK.

Smart Manufacturing Hub - Roadmap for IIoT

Daily, Time: TBD

Building on SME’s new magazine, Smart Manufacturing, the Smart Manufacturing Hub is a dynamic area featuring advanced manufacturing technologies like automation, advanced materials, additive manufacturing and 3D printing, the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), 3D scanning and more. Insightful technical presentations combined with resources from leading technology providers will bring attendees up to speed quickly on developments in this rapidly changing field.

Neil Desrosiers, Mazak Corporation Application Engineer, will provide a “Roadmap for IIoT” at the Smart Manufacturing Hub. Below is a short summary of Neil’s discussion.

So, we have all decided that factory data is now mission critical. And, to harvest this data, you need to make your legacy equipment first class citizens on your secure network. You’re looking for a way to enable today’s use cases and yet not restrict future projects. Intellectual property and DFARS compliance is haunting you as you read about factories being held ransom. You need an open, royalty free way to meet your IIOT / Industry 4.0 needs. Mazak, in collaboration with Cisco, has laid out a roadmap for the future.

Join Neil at Smart Manufacturing Hub to learn more about how to safely and securely take your shop to the next level. Neil will be presenting on a rotating schedule each day during CMTS.

Schedule subject to change.
