Ryan Briscoe Extends Lead in IndyCar Series Standings

Florence, Kentucky, September 1, 2009 – Mazak Corporation congratulates Ryan Briscoe of Penske Racing for his thrilling victory at the Peak Antifreeze and Motor Oil Indy 300 at Chicagoland Speedway. Briscoe narrowly defeated Scott Dixon by .0077 of a second, the fourth closest margin of victory in the history of the IndyCar Series.

Briscoe and the No. 6 Team Penske Dallara/Honda started the race in pole position but eventually fell to 13th before rallying and retaking the lead with 40 laps remaining. The IndyCar Series points leader swapped his lead with Scott Dixon four times over the final nine laps but edged Dixon by a nose at the finish line.

The victory is Briscoe's third of the season and first at Chicagoland Speedway. He has extended his lead in the IndyCar Series standings, while teammate Helio Castroneves remains fourth place overall.
