Mazak Shows QUICK TURN NEXUS 350 MY Capabilities at T3

Multi-Tasking CNC Turning Center provides Done-In-One benefits for all size job shops

Florence, Kentucky, October 25, 2011 – The QUICK TURN NEXUS 350 MY CNC Turning Center garnered much attention among attendees of T3 – Tomorrow's Technology Today, a Discover Mazak 2011 event, because of its ability to bring powerful Done-In-One part processing performance to job shops of all sizes.

The QUICK TURN NEXUS 350 MY's headstock features a 12" (305 mm) main chuck, mounted on a 40 hp, 3,300-rpm integrated main drive motor/spindle for heavy-duty metal removal. The spindle also serves as a C-axis, capable of being indexed in 0.0001° increments to accurately position the part for square facing and slotting cuts and precisely drilled holes. Furthermore, the C-axis spindle is a full-function CNC controlled axis for milling.

Additionally, the QUICK TURN NEXUS 350 MY utilizes a 12-position drum turret and 10 hp, 4,000-rpm rotary tool spindle for milling, drilling, and tapping operations, allowing many processes to be completed in a single machine cycle.

Another standard device is the beneficial Tool Eye, an automatic tool-presetting system. By bringing the tool tip into contact with the Tool Eye, offset of tool nose position, tool measurement, and data registration are done automatically, ensuring accuracy and reducing setup time. The Tool Eye also can be programmed to monitor tool wear on a periodic basis in an automatic mode.

The QUICK TURN NEXUS 350 MY's unique MX Hybrid Roller Guide System delivers levels of durability and reliability that result in long-term accuracy. The system increases vibration dampening to extend tool life, handles higher load capacities, accelerates and decelerates quicker to shorten cycle times, consumes less oil for "Greener" operations, and lasts longer with less required maintenance.

The sixth-generation MATRIX NEXUS CNC control simplifies multi-tasking metalworking operations on the QUICK TURN NEXUS 350 MY. It offers a 12" LCD color display and the familiar QWERTY keyboard. A pointing device, acting like a mouse, and USB port for downloading programs are also at the operator's fingertips.

Conversational part programming can be accomplished in Mazak language while the machine is cutting another part, or off-line in a CAD/CAM system. Once imported into Mazak MATRIX, a realistic 3D cycle simulation verifies the machining cycle and checks for machine interferences, greatly reducing the need for test cuts.

A variety of automation strategies can be integrated with the QUICK TURN NEXUS 350 MY, from an automatic bar feeder to full robotic integration of either pedestal-mount or overhead-mount robot arms, driving required labor costs down and productivity up.
