Compact Vertical Machining Center offers part processing versatility
Florence, Kentucky, October 25, 2011 – As part of the SMART Series of machines, Mazak presented its VERTICAL CENTER SMART 530C Vertical Machining Center at T3 – Tomorrow's Technology Today, a Discover Mazak 2011 event. As with all the machines in Mazak's SMART Series, the VERTICAL CENTER SMART 530C is a compact, highly productive machine that provides unsurpassed performance and value for a variety of applications requiring heavy-duty machining, high-speed machining or both.
With a space-saving footprint of 113.4" x 115.3" (2,880 mm x 2,928 mm), the VERTICAL CENTER SMART 530C features a powerful 12,000 rpm, 25 hp (18.5 kW), 40-taper spindle that delivers 70 ft-lbs. of torque for both high-speed cutting and heavy metal-removal jobs. The low-vibration spindle incorporates ceramic bearings for high accuracy and uses greased lubrication that will not drop to the machine's table or contaminate cutting coolant.
The machine's fast, fully enclosed 30-tool automatic tool changer makes for short chip-to-chip times of only 2.9 seconds. And maximum axis feedrates of 1,654 ipm (4,200 mm/min) allow the VERTICAL CENTER SMART 530C to further reduce non-cut times and shorten overall part processing time.
The machine's spacious worktable measures 51.18" (1,300 mm) x 22" (559 mm), and together with ample axis travels of 41.3" (1,050 mm) in X, 20.86" (530 mm) in Y and 20.08" (510 mm) in Z, the VERTICAL CENTER SMART 530C offers part processing versatility for a wide range of sizes and shapes. Machine versatility is further enhanced through Mazak's SMART CNC control that allows for using both EIA/ISO programs and conversational programming capabilities to simplify machine set up and increase operator efficiency.
The VERTICAL CENTER SMART 530C features Mazak's MX Hybrid Roller Guide System, which increases vibration dampening to extend tool life, handles higher load capacities, accelerates and decelerates quicker to shorten cycle times, consumes less oil for "Greener" operations, and lasts longer with less required maintenance.
