Mazak Canada Event to Focus on Advancements in Titanium Machining

Mazak Canada will host a lunch and learn for manufacturers on Friday, March 27 from 10:30 am to 2 p.m. that will focus on techniques for maximizing milling performance in titanium. The event will take place at the company’s Technology Centre in Cambridge, Ontario.

Titanium, because of its lightweight and exceptionally strong properties, is an ideal workpiece material for part manufacturers in the aerospace and medical industries. The material’s high hardness and low thermal conductivity, however, make it challenging to machine. It is for these reasons Mazak is teaming up with Iscar, Kennametal and Sandvik Coromant to share valuable knowledge on new methods to machine titanium.

Lunch and learn attendees will get to experience titanium machining demonstrations on the latest Mazak equipment outfitted with some of the industry’s most advanced cutting tools. The live demonstrations will include high-speed machining, high-feed milling, toroidal milling, pocket machining and plunging techniques. Following the demonstrations, there will be a question and answer session with representatives from all four companies.

Manufacturers interested in attending this free lunch and learn must register in advance at www.mazakcanada.com/events. Please contact Ray Buxton at rbuxton@mazakcorp.com regarding questions about the event.
