FLORENCE, Ky., September 20, 2022 – In Booth 338300 at IMTS 2022, Mazak showcased the full simultaneous 5-axis VARIAXIS i-700 NEO/2PC Multi-Tasking Vertical Machining Center with integrated 2-pallet changer that provides additional DONE IN ONE® part-processing versatility.
The VARIAXIS i-700 NEO/2PC features a spacious Y-axis travel of 43.31" (1,100 mm) and X-axis travel of 24.80" (630 mm), which easily accommodates workpieces up to 33.45" (850 mm) in diameter (single table) and 19.67" (500 mm) high. Maximum workpiece diameter for the Two Pallet Changer is 82.7” (730MM) With 360° of rotation in the C axis and +30° through -120° of tilt in the A axis, its roller gear cam-driven rotary/tilt table is supported at both ends and provides stable high-accuracy machining.
The 20,000 rpm, 40 hp (30 kW) 40-taper spindle on the VARIAXIS i-700 NEO/2PC features a compact nose design that helps increase the machine’s Z-axis stroke to 23.62" (600 mm) and allows for the use of shorter tools to boost overall machining stability. A 30-tool automatic tool changer adds part processing flexibility and contributes to continuous uninterrupted machining operations.
The fast rapid traverse rates of the VARIAXIS i-700 NEO/2PC and the use of Mazak’s MX Hybrid Roller Guide System in the X, Y and Z axes add speed and increase productivity. The machine rapid traverses as fast as 2,362 ipm (60 m/min) in the X and Y axes and 2,205 ipm (56 m/min) in the Z axis. The MX Hybrid Roller Guide System also delivers high levels of durability and reliability for long-term accuracy. The innovative way system increases vibration damping, extends tool life, handles higher load capacities and eliminates tramp oil in the coolant with a greener grease-based lubrication system.
For the greatest level of process optimization, the VARIAXIS i-700 NEO/2PC the MAZATROL SmoothAi CNC. Operators can monitor production status easily with scheduling functions, tool storage monitoring and system utilization analysis accessible from the control’s capacitive multitouch screen. Options for network access also enable remote production monitoring.
