Perfect for the automotive, consumer electronics, contract manufacturing and medical industries, the QTZ-250 is a twin-spindle chucker-type machine that employs two 20-hp, 4,500-rpm turning spindles for DONE IN ONE® parts production. It also features a digital Y-axis for off-centerline machining, a special 90-degree turret design that includes rotary tool capability for Multi-Tasking operations and Mazak’s new MAZATROL SmoothG CNC control.
The machine’s integral spindle/motor headstock provides extreme rigidity in heavy-duty machining and unmatched precision in high-speed applications. Mazak’s experience with this integral design spans over 25 years.
The special servo-driven turret on the QTZ-250 offers multiple tool configurations for easy changeover. It also features a roller gear cam drive system, ensuring a smooth high-speed, high-accuracy indexing motion. The roller gear design eliminates the need for expensive components, such as curvic/index couplings.
Together, the digital, 4”-stroke (+/-2”) Y-axis and the innovative turret design give the QTZ-250 incredible capabilities. As opposed to being oriented perpendicular to the turning spindle, the turret is parallel to it. Roller gear cam technology drives the turret for infinite radial positioning. This special configuration allows the turret to position in the Z and A (turret rotation) axis to perform Y-axis machining. The configuration eliminates the need for an actual Y-axis slide mechanism, which makes the machine cost effective without any performance sacrifices.
Mazak’s MAZATROL SmoothG control lets shops quickly and easily generate programs for highly complex parts that require angled drilling, milling or tapping operations. The control also features advanced hardware and software functions that help ensure high productivity and performance accuracy in such complex part production.
The MAZATROL SmoothG incorporates a wide variety of advanced programming functions for ease of use and to ensure high-speed, high-accuracy machining performance. These functions include High Gain Feed Forward Control, Fast Rotary Axis Speeds, Variable Acceleration Control and Intelligent Pocket Milling.
