IMTS 2014 was a huge success for Mazak as we showcased a level of technology that was among the highest in the machine tool industry. With more than 114,000 visitors from around the world joining together in Chicago’s McCormick Place, the 17,000-square-foot DISCOVER MORE WITH MAZAK™ booth was constantly abuzz as attendees flocked to experience the new, highly innovative ways we can boost precision, productivity and profitability in part production.
And there was plenty to see at every turn in our booth. Not only did we showcase 22 of our latest machine tools performing highly productive milling, turning, 5-axis, and Multi-Tasking operations, we unveiled our new SMOOTH TECHNOLOGY — a dramatic evolution in machine tool performance. This technology spans the entire part-production landscape, from programming and setup to monitoring/data collection and transfer. Key elements of the technology include our latest MAZATROL SmoothX CNC as well as new machine hardware and servo systems.
We also debuted several small-footprint, highly affordable milling and turning machines from our simply innovative UNIVERSAL Series, which included the VERTICAL CENTER UNIVERSAL 300A 5X, HORIZONTAL CENTER UNIVERSAL 5000 and QUICK TURN UNIVERSAL 250 M-UY. These machines, while basic in their design, feature advanced technologies that bring maximum productivity and value to small parts production.
At the other end of the spectrum, we spotlighted our latest 5-axis and Multi-Tasking machining systems for extra-large, heavy part production. While these systems, which included the VORTEX HORIZONTAL PROFILER 160,VERSATECH V-140N and INTEGREX e-800H, were too big for the show floor, we made sure they left a huge impression on attendees via interactive multi-media displays, special presentations and one-on-one consultations.
Additionally, IMTS was an excellent opportunity for us to present on the productivity benefits of MTConnect and how to get started with this open-source, royalty-free protocol. As a bonus, attendees got to experience in real-time how we, as a leading machine tool builder, use MTConnect to monitor equipment efficiency inside our Kentucky manufacturing plant.
And last but not least, IMTS was a great place to celebrate our 40th year of manufacturing in Kentucky, and showcase how we have evolved and expanded our operations over the past four decades to better serve our customers. In fact, 10 of the new machines we had on display at the show are designed and built in the Blue Grass State.
Our goal for every IMTS is to exceed attendee expectations. And we really hit the mark this year via 22 real-world cutting demonstrations; our SMOOTH TECHNOLOGY unveiling, the debut of our simply innovative UNIVERSAL machines; presentations on large-part production and data-driven manufacturing; and the list goes on.
